Coffee News

Happy Monday! A few interesting coffee-related news stories from this past week: Dunkin’ Donuts is thinking of changing their name, the first Pumpkin Spice coffee of the season is here, and Nitro King launched a Kickstarter for a home nitro cold brew coffee keg. Also on Kickstarter, a husband and wife team offer up coffee Tarot cards featuring hand drawn art.

With the announcement that Dunkin’ Donuts is thinking of changing their iconic name, taking away the “donut” part and shortening it to just “Dunkin'”, the company is taking the next step in its effort to rebrand itself as a more beverage-centric store. A new store location in Pasadena, California is the first to see a trial run of the new name and slogan: “Dunkin’. Coffee and More”.

The dog days are over! Not really, it’s still summer (it’s 95 degrees today where I live), but the season of Pumpkin Spice is upon us already (it seems to come earlier and earlier each year).  The seasons first batch of Pumpkin Spice coffees is being heralded in by World Market who began selling their seasonal Pumpkin Spice coffee on August 1. My body is ready.

The Brewing Company out of South Korea recently launched a Kickstarter campaign for Nitro King, a home nitro cold brewing system that allows consumers to make and enjoy their own cold brew and nitro cold brew coffee right in the convenience of their own home. Check out the campaign video below to see how easy it is to use too (I was surprised and intrigued – I’m already mentally tabulating my Christmas wishlist (I blame the Pumpkin Spice)).

Another recently launched coffee Kickstarter is from husband and wife team, Ron and Janet Boyer. Ron is a great hands-on artist and Janet is a Tarot enthusiast and author; together they created “the first deck to correlate coffee—the beans, the growing, the roasting, the brewing, the enjoying—with the archetypes of Tarot”. See the video below for more information.
