How To Make Coffee Infused Oil

Coffee Infused Oil

I recently made some coffee infused oil to use as an ingredient in some upcoming DIY coffee beauty items I’m planning and thought I’d share the process with you guys. Coffee infused oil is actually super easy to make – it’s literally only a 2 step process. All you need are coffee grounds (a medium roast with medium to large sized grounds works best), your desired oil, a Crock-Pot-style slow cooker, and some way to strain the coffee grounds from the oil when done.

For the example in the picture I used hazelnut oil, but coconut, almond, olive, or pretty much any oil you want can be used instead. A significant amount of product will be lost in the coffee grounds, so I would advise starting out with at least twice the amount of oil you actually need.

Coffee Infused Oil Uses

Coffee infused oil is actually a very versatile beauty aid to have on hand. The oil can be used on it’s own as a hair treatment to simulate hair growth, as a body oil to boost blood circulation and temporarily reduce the appearance of cellulite, or as a face oil to reduce puffiness and dark under eye circles and perk up tired skin. Adding coffee infused oil to homemade lotions, balms, and scrubs imbues them with all these same qualities while also adding rich color and a lovely coffee scent to your creations.

Ingredients:

  • 1 part coffee grounds
  • 1 part oil
  • Crock-Pot-style slow cooker
  • metal mesh strainer
  • coffee filter

Directions:

  1. Add coffee grounds and oil to Crock-Pot-style slow cooker and heat on low for approximately 8 hours, stirring occasionally.
  2. Allow pot to cool, then strain out coffee grounds by placing a coffee filter in a mesh strainer, placing the whole thing over a bowl or large measuring cup, and adding coffee grounds/oil mixture. You may remember this set up from when we made Cold Brew Coffeecoffee ground straining setup
  3. Pour oil in sealed jar. You’re done <3 <3 <3

Tip: Don’t throw out the coffee grounds when done, put them aside and use them to make some Coffee (insert oil here) Sugar Scrub.
